Become a Trees Winnipeg Community Tree Planter

Only about ten percent of Winnipeg’s urban forest is on city land. The rest is on private or institutional property. If we want to replenish and grow our canopy it is up to all of us to play our part.

You may be a homeowner, rent from a landlord, or be part of a condominium board. Perhaps you have an association with a workplace, school, daycare, community club, or place of worship. These are all great places at which to plant trees and Trees Winnipeg wants to help you along the way.

Trees Winnipeg’s Community Tree Planter Program provides participants with the skills to become adept tree planters and be able to share that knowledge at your very own community tree planting event!

How it Works

1. Attend one of our Community Tree Event Workshops. These 30-minute presentations will teach you the basics of proper tree planting and show you how to choose the right tree for the right place.

2. Attend at least one of our Community Tree Planting Events and receive hands-on tree planting training from Trees Winnipeg staff.

3. If you take one of our Community Tree Event Workshops AND attend a Community Tree Planting Event, we can provide you with a Trees Winnipeg Community Tree Planter Certificate of Completion.

We can also direct you to funding opportunities for community tree planting projects, source tree planting equipment, and provide further training for community members.

To find out when our next workshops and planting events are being held, visit our Eventbrite page, social media, or contact us at office@treeswinnipeg.org.
